Campaign to repair tomb next to property in Beaconsfield

A Buckinghamshire church group has launched a fundraising initiative aimed at repairing a 19th century tomb next to a property in Beaconsfield.

The Friends of St Mary and All Saints are seeking to raise £10,000 to go towards the restoration of the John and Mary Jackson tomb in Beaconsfield. John initially owned the churchs premises which used to be the Bull Inn. He was baptized in the church.

The group has already managed to raise close to half of the amount they need, though more details on Jacksons descendants and ancestors is required before the exercise can proceed.

A son of John and Christian, John Jackson had four siblings namely Ann, Edward, James, and Mary, born in 1788, 1789, 1791 and 1793 respectively.

One slab on the tomb indicates that Mary Jackson passed on in 1831 at age 56 while John Jackson departed in 1843 at age 57.

Anyone with useful information about the Jacksons descendants and ancestors is encouraged to contact the Parish office at the Fitzwilliam Centre in Beaconsfield on 01494 676690, or send email to stmarysmr@aol.com.
